Why the Mindy Project Ep 17 and 18 is So Damn Devastating. 4/8/2014

 

When I was a kid, once a year we would go to the amusement park. If you’ve ever been a kid, then I don’t have to explain to you the almost palpable joy that is connected to such an event. One year, I couldn’t go. I WAS DEVESTATED. Something I waited for all year long, that perfect happy day I had anticipated with near mania was torn away without any warning.

That is how many fans feel about Tonight’s episodes of The Mindy Project. DEVESTATED.

 

Let’s face it. We all want Mindy and Danny to get together. The show has been inching us toward it. What is so terrible, at least in my mind, is not that they broke up. It’s that everything between that first kiss, and that break up scene went unrecorded.

Not to mention that Danny acted like a complete asshole. I am going have to list this.

1. He helps her write that letter to Cliff, and then turns around and steals her away. Only to dump her less than two episodes later. Ruining a serious relationship with hotty Cliff; he might have really loved her and she clearly liked him enough to beg him to take her back.
2. He acted ashamed of her. Even if that wasn’t his reason, that is how he acted. Any girl would take a serious ego hit. A true friend would never do that to you. And he calls her his best friend!!!
3. In any plausible real world, not only would their relationship be almost certainly over for the reasons stated above, but also, the friendship would be nearly unsalvageable.
4. As viewers, we could almost forgive him, based on his fear of losing her, his own insecurities etc, but we cannot forgive that the very next episode he is trying to bone Peter’s sister!!! What an asshole! Also, that doesn’t indicate that he is hurting like she is, which means he never cared as much as she did, which makes us even sadder for poor Mindy!!
5. Peter ends up looking like the good guy!!! Now that’s a friend. I almost wish she’d end up with Peter!!!
6. He was a dick to her on the bus when she got courted by that other practice. But his behavior is the reason she even considered thinking about it in the first place!!
7. He apologizes to her for the scene in the break room with Peter’s sister. That might seem like a nice thing to do, but in all actuality, it’s just rubbing salt in the wound.

In closing, to keep the viewership of this show, one of two things need to happen.

1. She must completely blow Danny off, even as a friend, meet a better guy the viewers like EVEN MORE THAN DANNY so that we can still respect her.

                                                                                       OR

      2. She must meet a better guy, make Danny insanely jealous, reject him when he comes crawling back. Let him suffer, really suffer, and then after he jumps through giant hoops she forgives him and takes Danny back.
